Artist’s Statement: I love to watch people…I am amazed how much we can tell about a person just by the way we walk, move our hands or even shift our eyes. I can get lost in the day just watching people and using my imagination trying to guess “their story”…well, that is, until I get “caught” staring, then the moment is over…very embarrassing (smile).
We are complex…and sometimes not logical because so many of us respond from emotions. It’s these emotions that I love to paint. Whether those emotions are envy and lust or love and serentiy, I try to capture them with a very simple gesture or expression.
I am often asked why I use such bright colors. I use the bright, strong colors because often times, life can be “tough” and when we face challenges, things can seem “dark”. So, my paintings are bright and vivid even if they are portraying a mysterious scenario…the colors I use brighten not only the room, but our spirits as well. And, yes, I truly believe that vivid colors in a painting can enhance and add interest to even the most traditional decor.
I especially enjoy working on large canvas because I believe that the art a person chooses to place in their surroundings is an extention of their “taste” and a part of their personality. So why not show that off in a big, bold and beautiful way?
In summary, I am a painter who loves and paints human emotions with strong colors and simple lines. I am a passionate person and I place much of that passion on every canvas I paint. I am an “open book” to anyone who would like to email me and ask me any question. Nothing thrills me more than to talk about painting and art. Thank you for taking the time to read this statement and I wish for you a very wonderful day….(smile).
